It was exciting to attend the official opening of a new Food Larder within Higher Croft Childrens Centre last Thursday.
The Food Larder is open at the following times:
- Monday: 9am – 12 noon
- Wednesday: 9am -12 noon & 1pm – 3pm
- Friday: 9am – 12 noon
They will be providing a top up service for people’s weekly shop where 5 items can be purchased for £3.50 or 10 items for £6.50.

People from Higher Croft work with Healthy Living to make this happen and the hard work put in by all involved was acknowledged at the official opening by both the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen and local councillor Vicky McGurk.
Whilst this was a formal opening it was also a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues involved in other food support groups such as Andrea Meachin from SAMs at CB Partners and Gill Fourie from the foodbank and foodbank Manager Mohamed Khan (pictured below):
